Your scent
I can still feel your scent
And remember the moment I stepped outside
You were sitting in a tall stool
I looked at you and breath deeply
Saying hi was the hardest thing
You know how insecure we all are
But I lead with my heart
I let my curious nature run wild
As I listen to your every word
Wrap up in a invisible blanket
It felt secure to be myself
To speak my mind, to hold your gaze
We talked about creativity, about art
About music, about love
Most times I don't give that much at first
Especially to people that are "just" passing through
I'm still wondering what was different this time
Was it me or was it you?!
I felt a bit closer, a small connection
After you left, I had your number
And I tried to act cool, be close but distant
It wasn't like I was overflowing with feelings
I just wanted to know more
And then you texted me, let's meet tonight
I leapt a bit, wasn't expecting it
In my mind I was sure I would never see you again
So I did my thing and grabbed a Taxi
Waited for you under the bridge
Then I saw you coming with your pearl earring
We hug, like the two strangers that we are
You wanted to buy souvenirs and so we did
Wasn't expecting you to buy the whole store
There I was observing you in action
Saw you breathe a little panic when the card wasn't working
I tried soothing you a bit: "don't worry I can pay for it"
We laughed about it outside, I like your humor
So we continued our climb to reach the rose wine
We arrived to smiles and empty glasses
And the dance began
Relationships, life, it was all so familiar
No judgment was there
Just the joy of sharing
Individualism came and was sent packing
Say yes to a life story, f*** love stories
We're all complicated, staying together takes commitment
Something that these days people don't have
And don't want, 5 minutes is all they can spare
I looked deep into those eyes,
Saw the passion leaping out
With compassion, I listened closely
Just drinking in every word until I was full
I leaned in to say something
To engage your senses and we laughed
We talked about chemistry
About seeing the person behind it
You asked about traveling,
You want to go to Croacia
I want to go to Talin, Riga and Vilnius
We drank more wine,
You smoked a cigar,
We talked more, we talked less,
It was pure, we grabbed a pastel de nata
We walked, we talked,
It felt good, just simple,
You offered me a smoke,
Secretly I think you wanted to get ride of your cigars
And then reality came crashing in
Tomorrow you had to leave
And leave you did,
I don't think you're good at goodbyes
Or maybe I just wanted a big hug
Doesn't matter, the memory of the moment remains
In the smell you left behind forever imprinted in me
An indelible line in my palm, interlaced with my life
That goes on, as always, but richer
